Sherlock Holmes

We are happy to welcome you to a new semester, and we have exciting news to share with you.

First of all, we are proud to announce that we passed 5000 registered users and over 70,000 players the other week – thank you to everyone who has tested and provided feedback on improvements.

During the spring and summer, we have been working hard to make Escaply even better and more robust to meet your needs.

Here is an overview of the exciting improvements we have made:

Scalability and performance: We have put a lot of effort into improving server capacity and fixing the bugs you have reported. Through our tests, we have now successfully managed games with over tens of thousands of players simultaneously without any problems. We strive for a smooth and hassle-free gaming experience for all of you.

Live Leaderboard: To increase engagement and competitive spirit, we have introduced a live leaderboard. It shows the top 5 students in real time. As a teacher, you have full control over whether you want to show this or not.

Add documents: From next week, you will be able to include documents as PDF files when creating your games. This opens up possibilities for digital escape rooms with QR codes, as well as giving you the opportunity to include instructions or information that can help students solve specific questions.

Custom difficulty levels: After listening to your requests, we have added a feature that makes it easier to mark whether a question has been answered correctly or not. This will particularly benefit younger students and create a more personalized gaming experience.

Facts on the game page: Based on your feedback, we have implemented the possibility to see the answers directly on the game page. This makes it easier for you to help students and gives you better insight into the quality of the games in the library.

Improved multimedia format: We have extended the support for different image formats and improved the way they are presented in the questions. Our work in this area will continue in August to create an even better visual experience.

Transition and introduction texts: To give you more flexibility, we have added the possibility to include longer scrollable texts. This gives you room to create stories and instructions that enhance the gaming experience.

This is also great for practicing reading comprehension.

Updated intro video: We have listened to your requests and made it possible to include the first video not only in the lobby, but also when the game starts. This way, you can be sure that your students do not miss out on important information.

Ratings and comments: You now have the opportunity to give other creators a boost by rating games you have copied. This helps us collectively find the most popular games for the future.

What’s next: In the coming weeks, we will be launching app versions for both Apple and Android, which will improve the gaming experience on your devices. We also continue to improve the interface and appearance, and plan to release more “premium games” both for free and at a small cost.

We have already released “Sherlock Holmes – Trapped by Moriarty” in English, and the translation into Swedish will be available next week.

We would like to thank you again for the great feedback we have received. Your input is invaluable as we strive to make the Escaply platform even better for you and your students. Don’t hesitate to share more suggestions to continue improving Escaply by contacting us at
